Urgency tier

Suspected active anaphylaxis requires immediate IM epinephrine, 911 activation, and emergency transfer; do not wait for a specialist referral.
Expedited referral for recurrent severe reactions, uncertain trigger, or high-risk exposure context.
Routine referral for stable patients requiring prevention and trigger-confirmation planning.

Minimum pre-referral workup

Trigger timeline, symptom pattern, and multisystem involvement details.
Documentation of airway/breathing/circulation findings at presentation.
Prior allergy history, previous severe reactions, and current action plan status.

Referral packet checklist

Clear reaction chronology with likely trigger exposures.
Objective findings, treatment administered, and response timeline.
Current medications, allergy history, and emergency-plan status.

Pre-referral optimization tasks

Reinforce strict return precautions and emergency response steps.
Review trigger avoidance strategy while awaiting specialist input.
Arrange interim follow-up for symptom recurrence surveillance.
